My GAFE Experience

What is GAFE?

Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a core suite of productivity applications that Google offers to schools and educational institutions for FREE. These communication and collaboration apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs and Sites, and a GAFE account unlocks access to dozens of other collaborative tools supported by Google. All of these applications exists completely online (or in the cloud), meaning that all creations can be accessed from any device with an Internet connection.

Here are some of my GAFE experience:

Step 1:  Sign in to Chrome

Step 2:  Bookmark this page to your Bookmarks bar

Step 3:  Pin this tab to save it the next time Chrome is opened.

Step 4 & 5:  Type a URL in the omnibox to navigate to that page and Perform a Google Search directly from the omnibox.

Step 6:  Make Google Chrome your default browser.

Step 7:  Use control + N to open a new window.

This is what I have received.

Doing the 30 day Chrome challenge is very enjoyable. Although that program needs to be accomplished in 30 days, it only took 1 hour for me to finish the 30 day Chrome challenge because I feel excited to do the remaining steps. I have gain new knowledge and I personally thank Google for doing this kind of activity :)

That's all, thank you for reading, hope you like it :)

My PowToon Experience

What is PowToon?

PowToon is a website that allows users to create animated videos and presentations. Users can select from a variety of templates or create from scratch. PowToon allows users to bring their presentations and videos to life by adding animated characters and words. Users can set the duration of each animation and create seamless flow from one idea to the next.

Since PowToon is a presentation/video creation tool, it can be used for any content. Teachers and students can use PowToon as an alternative to PowerPoint or Google Slides, allowing for more personalization and animation.

Using PowToon in making my presentation is new to me. It is another way of making my presentation very lively and accessible. I was very excited because it is my first time. The first thing I did was to sign up for free and then log in using my gmail account.

Here's how I created my presentation :)

Last thing I did was to publish my work in Youtube, but an unexpected error occured.

But still, I try and try and try and I didn't stop. Then I was surprised when I checked my Youtube channel.

I can say that my PowToon experience was very enjoyable, although publishing it on Youtube made me nervous. It is also entertaining because for me it is like playing a game. Lastly, PowToon taught me that patience is really a virtue. Just keep on trying, and wait until you’ve got the result that you want.

Tablets for Textbooks in School

Today, books are still the primary medium of instruction in most schools. It is doubtful if these will totally be replaced by digital technology reading tools, but there are now perceptions that virtual literacy may very well ease out textual print literacy. The disadvantages of using books for learning are being debated upon. For school-graders, the load of books and workbooks for every subject are backbreaking due to their weight and size. The errors in public school textbooks have also been exposed, errors resulting from wrong information, technical mistakes, and editorial lapses.

LAPTOP Vs. TABLET

Tablets for school

Use of tablets in public schools in the country may be difficult considering certain factors: (a) Cost of one tablet for one student is not within budget capacity or  beyond capability of government which cannot even fully comply with one book for one student. (b) Books have more durability compared with electronic gadgets due to handling, energy charging, heat, and moist. (c) Technical expertise for the learning software is not widely available. Swift evolution of content in learning may outrun the tedious preparation of softwares making the product irrelevant to the dynamism of educational programs.

Conditions in Philippine education show youths in far-flung areas not reached, number of classrooms and facilities inadequate, quality of work life of teachers below standards. Embarking in technology in education may appear problematic, but systems management may still resolve many problems. Technology itself may be a key to problem resolution and Filipino ingenuity is called to respond to the challenge facing the digital generation of the millennium.

Must watch!!! :)
